Job description
SUMMARY
Perform maintenance, inspection, repair, installation and alteration of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration systems and related equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
- Checks and services all HVAC units such as cleaning coils, checking refrigerant, changing filters, checking controls, etc.
- Installs, maintains and repairs ventilation, air conditioning systems, equipment and ductwork.
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, such as, cleaning coils, changing filters, checking refrigerant charge, inspecting equipment wiring, inspecting equipment piping, and greasing bearings.
- Troubleshoots equipment issues, such as, electrical, unit controls, building automation controls, hydronic piping/valves/actuators, refrigerant systems, electric motors, drives, etc.
- Identifies maintenance risks on equipment.
- Responds to HVAC service calls.
- Responds to emergency equipment call-outs.
- Provides end-of-service life information on equipment & devices.
- Provides technical direction and on-the-job training.
- Installs, repairs and maintains remote operating or monitoring equipment as related to HVAC systems (does not include IT/Server connections).
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
Lead and/or guide the work of other employees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), 5 years of HVAC experience and a Mechanical Journeyman License, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge in the use and care of tools, including corded and cordless power tools.
- Ability to read/interpret blueprints.
- Knowledge of electrical Lock Out/Tag Out and Personal Protective Equipment usage.
- Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work will be performed in a variety of settings, including, climate-controlled office settings and/or outdoors in all types of weather. Work will include lifting and adjusting heavy objects and will come in contact with sharp, hot and/or cold supplies and equipment. Employee will be required to wear proper personal protective equipment and maintain safety procedures at all times. Employee may be called into work outside of normal work hours or for an extended time for emergency maintenance and repair situations. Work may require travel.
