Position summary
The Early Childhood Education Associate works closely with Puente’s Education Director to strengthen educational opportunities for infants, toddlers, children, and families on the South Coast. The scope of works involves programming for children ages 0-5 as well as their families, through one-on-one and also group settings. The successful candidate will be able to work a hybrid schedule: 3 days in-person, 2 days remotely.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate outreach initiatives for early childhood programs (flyers, Talking Points, Instagram, Facebook)
- Coordinate early childhood education programs (i.e., Mami, Papi, y Yo; Abriendo Puertas; Trauma-Informed Care Trainings)
- Coordinate the Raising a Reader program for the South Coast community
- Be a presenter for early childhood workshops
- Support the Sueños Unidos/United Dreams Bilingual Childcare Cooperative with data entry, outreach and as substitute teacher
- Enter data for early childhood education programs
- Collaborate with other staff in the organization and other agencies to facilitate and deliver education programs
- Provide information, referrals, and coordinate efforts to link participants to appropriate internal and external services
- Work with Puente staff to do outreach for all education programs
- Document programs and services as required
- Assist with other departmental needs, as needed
- Assist with organizational needs, as needed
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed
Qualifications
- BA in Early Childhood Education/Human Development, preferred, or AA in Early Childhood Education
- Experience working in a rural community, preferred
- Demonstrate bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English
- Experience with supporting families and children (including children with special needs)
- Familiarity with early childhood assessments (ASQs, DRDPs, ECERs, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with database systems
- Current California Driver’s License and ability to drive to work related functions in and around Pescadero, La Honda, Loma Mar, and San Gregorio/Southern San Mateo County area.
Skills Required
- Collaborative work with colleagues, institutions, and community members
- Extensive experience with identifying and coordinating critical participant needs and leveraging resources to create sustainable programs
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and commitment to advocacy for cultural diversity and equity
- Ability to drive locally, when needed.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and projects outlined in various work plans
- Ability to adapt easily to new protocols and changing environments
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
