JOB DESCRIPTION
The Product Owner role is responsible for identifying and representing the needs of the organization and stakeholders within the organization in the definition of requirements as part of the architecture, design, and implementation of software solutions for new products and major product enhancements. The ideal candidate has a solid depth of knowledge in understanding business processes, identifying priority and business value, and communicating requirements as user stories in an Agile Scrum development team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders, and other teams to shape requirements, features, and end products
- Synthesize user and stakeholder feedback into actionable engineering user stories
- Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners
- Craft product roadmaps according to overarching business and user goals
- Own the prioritization of user stories while weighting technical complexity against value derived
- Partner with technical stakeholders to plan and manage product releases
- Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding throughout the organization
- Develop high quality software architecture and software development backlog stories ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives.
EDUCATION
A degree in Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or Communication is a plus but not necessary with commensurate experience.
SKILLS
The ideal candidate has a good understanding and working knowledge of:
- Proven experience as a Product Manager or similar role
- Experience with multiple stages of the product development lifecycle - discovery, delivery, testing, planning
- Experience working on an agile software delivery team
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with common technical concepts / ability to have semi-technical conversations
- Organizational and leadership abilities
- Proactive and comfortable navigating ambiguity
- A growth mindset
EXPERIENCE
- 4+ years' experience working with software development teams
- 3+ years' experience in product or project management
- 3+ years' work experience in Scrum environment
- Hands on knowledge of development management tools like Azure DevOps (preferred), Jira, Trello, GitHub, ClickUp, ActiveCollab, Figma
- UI/UX design experience a plus
LICENCES/CERTIFICATIONS/INSURANCE/TRAINING
Any certificates related to Product Management are a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position works in an office environment where temperatures are constant. Frequent prolonged periods of a stationary position. Constant operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine/printer. This position will be a telecommuting position with required periodic trips to the St. Petersburg, FL office.
