Junior Structural Engineer - Kentucky Lock Dam
***Work Location: Grand Rivers, KY (Kentucky Lock Dam)****
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides structural engineering and construction management support on civil works construction project involving foundation analysis dams and lock structures
- Reviews as-built drawings and replies to RFI requests
- Performs quality assurance inspections, structural fabrication inspections, documentation review and preparation, and general construction management and oversight from a structural engineering perspective
- Review construction lift plans involving cranes and rigging
- Support review of contractor claims
- Provides safety oversight, documentation of such oversight, and directs corrective actions as required to ensure worker and public safety
- Assists in interpreting and enforcing contractual provisions regarding contractor structural engineering requirements and deliverables; documents and provides reports regarding contractor progress
- Recommends authorization of progress payments based on observed contract progress
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in in civil or structural engineering
- An EIT certification or a current Professional Engineering (PE) license is desirable but not required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in engineering design and construction
- Demonstrated experience in heavy civil construction with an emphasis on structural concrete, rebar, and formwork
- Experience with design and monitoring shop fabrication of welded steel structures
- Experience with review of construction lift plans involving cranes and rigging
- Experience with US Army Corps of Engineers or Tennessee Valley Authority
- Experience with Resident Management System (RMS)
- Experience at Kentucky Lock, preferred
