Overview:
Education Requirement:
The K-12 Education Program Administrator develops, organizes, and leads programming to provide opportunities for kindergarten through high school students to engage with biomedical research and science topics in a fun and enriching way. The administrator builds relationships with local schools to ensure equitable access to experiences for students from underrepresented populations. Responsible for program coordination, recruitment/marketing, administrative support, and evaluation to assure quality outcomes and optimize expected results. Utilizes data to make improvements and track ongoing progress in meeting program goals.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
- Builds programs and develops introductory science and professional development curriculum for high school students acquiring research experiences at the AWRI
- Recruits and retains high school students and NCH program mentors for research experiences for high school programs
- Collaborates with local K-8 schools for needs assessments and to provide short-term research programming to students
- Collaborates with clinical areas at NCH to develop ongoing programming introducing NCH patients to AWRI science
- Builds relationships with trainees and their mentors to ensure high quality research experiences
- Consults with leaders to develop, implement, and track outcomes of assigned educational activities and or projects. Ensures trainee outcome measures are tracked – administer entry/exit knowledge and satisfaction surveys, maintains trainee database and demographics, career outcomes– and provide analysis of outcome data for grant progress reports
- Increases visibility of educational activities and or programs. Maintains up-to-date information on internal and external OTA websites
- Assists in the development of external grant applications and submissions
- Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as well as travel, as schedule dictates.
- Other administrative duties as assigned
Education Requirement:
- MA degree in STEM field, education, health administration or related field required. PhD or equivalent experience preferred.
Licensure Requirement:
- Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license for travel as necessary.
Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills to plan, direct and evaluate work of support staff.
- Interdisciplinary program planning required.
- Demonstrated project and database management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Strong command of the English language, grammar and spelling.
Experience:
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in science education.
- Experience with project management and development.
- Experience with tracking data and reporting outcomes is highly desired.
