Job Description:-

Seeking a Media Preparation Contract Technician for a media preparation lab. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a team setting under the supervision of a lab member to prepare microbial and plant growth media in a laboratory environment using modern media preparation equipment and aseptic technique. Conducting media preparation using sterilization and dispensing equipment, such as autoclaves or mediaclaves, is a key component of this role and can be learned through on-the-job training. Candidates seeking to operate in a team-based and safety-oriented environment will thrive in this role.
Responsibilities:

• Fill media orders by weighing media components
• Operate sterilization equipment including autoclaves, mediaclaves, and filter sterilization
• Operate aseptic media dispensing equipment including automated liquid handlers and petri dish fillers
• Maintain a clean and orderly workspace, including regular dishwashing and equipment cleaning
• Maintain laboratory material inventory
• Organize and label media components with barcoding system
• Assemble and sterilize equipment and parts
• Maintain equipment in a safe and efficient state
• Communicate with team members to coordinate lab activities

Qualifications:-
• A minimum of an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in scientific field is required

• Prior laboratory experience, preferably using aseptic technique, such as pipetting sterile media, pouring agar plates, or other operations in sterile enclosures (biosafety cabinets, laminar flow hoods, etc.), is required
• Good communication and time management skills are essential to this role
• Ability to use MS Office software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year or more experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
• Prior experience working with automated liquid handlers

Salary: From $20.00 per hour
