NAVFAC Southwest is looking for highly motivated landscape architects to join their team. As a landscape architect with NAVFAC Southwest, you will provide design services and consultation for site planning, design, construction and maintenance of a broad range of facilities ranging from administrative and housing facilities to very complex industrial and operational facilities that serve the Navy and Marine Corps.

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented team player with strong technical and communication skills (oral and written) while working under strict deadlines, managing competing priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all aspects of landscape architecture design, including site planning, concept design development, design analyses, specifications, cost estimates, and other required services.
  • Prepare design, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates, for new and renovation projects using landscape architectural CAD software (Autodesk Civil 3D and LandFX),
  • Perform quality assurance reviews and evaluate Design-Bid-Build (DBB) and Design-Build (DB) landscape architectural and civil engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and supporting documents prepared by A/E design firms, to determine feasibility, compatibility with other work, and effectiveness in meeting DoD and NAVFAC codes and criteria.
  • Investigate and evaluate landscape architecture and civil engineering issues and concerns in existing site conditions to develop recommendations and options for remediation or corrective measures, and scopes of work.
  • Provide construction oversight services, including review and approval of contractor’s submittals, shop drawings and provide technical response to Request for Information.
  • Prepare statement of work and government estimates for design and assists in negotiations with Architect/Engineering (A/E) firms, and serve as Contracting Officer’s Representative in the administration, oversight, and performance assessment of A/E contracts.

Must have experience in:

  • Experience, knowledge and skill in landscape architectural concepts, theories, principles and practices and techniques.
  • Comprehensive experience in all phases of landscape architectural design and construction.
  • Experience in preparing site design, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates, for new and renovation projects using latest landscape architectural design software.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal codes and other statutory requirements affecting landscape design, including but not limited, to irrigation, , sustainable design, Low impact development, stormwater, grading and drainage.
  • Knowledge of California native planting and other various Southwest habitats.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy in applications such as Autodesk Civil 3D and LandFX software, Microsoft Office products, landscape design, and analysis software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture
  • Licensed Landscape Architect (preferred)**
