*LEAD ELECTRICIAN* *Department*: Commercial Construction *Exempt*: No *Reports To*: Project Manager *Pay Range*: $27/30hr *Position Type*: Full-Time *Hours*: 40+ hrs/week Mandatory *JOB SUMMARY* The Lead Electrician is responsible for a variety of skilled and semiskilled manual tasks at the journeyman level in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and control equipment. This position may also be responsible for managing small to medium-sized projects and crews while performing these general duties. Additional tasks may involve the use of trades tools and the operation of light construction equipment as a part of the assignment. Page *1 *of *7* *LEAD ELECTRICIAN* *DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES* All duties of the E1-E4 Field Electrician, plus Lead small to medium size construction projects with off-sight supervision. Under the supervision of a Project Manager, performs such duties as maintaining project daily reports, project timekeeping, weekly coordination meetings, and other similar duties. Initiates and performs preventative maintenance programs. Inspects complex electrical and control equipment for proper operation. Performs routine inspections on operating equipment. Orders parts and materials as needed. Coordinates with other trades as needed Responds to after-hours emergencies as needed. Occasional off-shift work if required to meet project milestones. Complete required Leadership training provided by the Company. *QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS* To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. *EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS* Minimum (4) years of verifiable electrical construction experience in a project leadership position. Considerable experience in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment including experience in the repair and installation of instrumentation including primary sensing devices, indicators, recorders, automated controls, small transformers, motor controls, 480-volt equipment, transfer switches, generators, control panels, general power, and lighting is required. Considerable knowledge of the most current national electric codes (NEC) is required. Page *2 *of *7* *LEAD ELECTRICIAN* An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered for minimum requirements except for licensure/certification requirements. *LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS* Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. *_Must be a current licensed Journeyman or equivalent practical knowledge._* Must be First Aid and CPR/AED certified or become certified during employment. *PREFERRED SKILLS AND LICENSES *(May increase pay range) Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida CDL class “B” motor vehicles operator's license or higher with Air Brake and an acceptable driving record is preferred. Additional accredited certifications in electrical construction, project management, or other similar job-related tasks. Leadership training. OSHA 10. Spanish speaking. *LANGUAGE SKILLS* Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in the English language at a 12th-grade level. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, the Company’s management team, and the general public. *REASONING ABILITY* Ability to follow and apply common sense understanding, to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations when immediate guidance from the supervisor may not be available *.* Page *3 *of *7* *LEAD ELECTRICIAN* Ability to read and comprehend safety manuals, instructions, memos, blueprints, schematics, financial reports, work orders, and professional journals. *OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES* Knowledge of standard practices, tools, terminology, and safety standards of the electrical and mechanical trades. Possess the physical ability and strength to handle heavy electrical materials and climb stairs. Ability to sketch and or draw: electrical installations and schematics/wiring diagrams. Ability to compose a list of materials required to complete a job or project. Ability to perform work in a consistently safe manner. The capability of standard eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and shop math (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, and algebraic formulas). Ability to work independently in a diligent manner and professionally. *TASKS* Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system. Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps. Page *4 *of *7* *LEAD ELECTRICIAN* Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations. Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Direct or train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools. Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors. Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools. Perform business management duties, such as maintaining records or files, preparing reports, or ordering supplies or equipment. Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets. Construct or fabricate parts, using hand tools, according to specifications. Page *5 *of *7* *LEAD ELECTRICIAN* Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduits or moving or lifting heavy objects. Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights or generators, placing flares, or driving needed vehicles. The employee will work outside in various weather conditions. Working in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment may be required as well as working from heights, in dusty conditions, with hands, feet, and/or legs in wastewater, and may handle chemicals.
