Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point is currently accepting applications for a Florida-licensed Lead Radiology Technologist on a FULL TIME basis. Flexible availability to cover 3 12-hour shifts (or 2 12-hour shifts + a 10-hour shift) and Sat/Sun availability is necessary for consideration. Please note our facility is a Level II Trauma Center which requires availability for rotating call assignments. ARRT (R) and BLS required.
The Lead Radiology Technologist provides takes radiographs of all age patients, various organs, anatomical areas, and body systems, will assist the physician in diagnoses and treatments. The Rad Tech performs other duties as assigned including clerical functions.
- Possesses sound and thorough knowledge of all diagnostic radiographic procedures and related equipment including surgical, portable, trauma, general and fluoroscopic radiographic procedures.
Selects proper and accurate technical factors and techniques to accommodate patient size, age or condition, using universal precautions.
Self evaluates the quality of all radiographic procedures assuring established protocols have been followed and optimal quality films are submitted for interpretation utilizing appropriate lead markers as well as date and time stickers where indicated.
Demonstrates knowledge of specific conditions, diseases and treatment for specific patient populations.
Obtains and records all pertinent clinical information relating to the procedure ordered including pregancy, allergies, lab results, correlative study results, reason for the exam and patient complaints in accordance with established department policy and procedure.
Properly determines the type of contrast media when indicated based on the patient's medical history and established protocol.
Administers contrast media utilizing aseptic technique as required for venipuncture and monitors patient for possible reaction recognizing any need for emergency treatment.
Safely operates all equipment utilizing ALARA principles and uses protective devices and/or shielding unless contraindicated.
Demonstrates the safe operational requirements within the department.
Assists, transfers, and positions patients as needed, ensuring modesty and physical safety, utilizing auxiliary equipment and/or devices needed.
Checks the operation of the equipment, maintains cleanliness of tables and equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases; keeps room stocked of linen and necessary supplies.
Assures all required documentation, forms, charges and the patient's medical record are completed as indicated.
Accurately completes all required fields within the Radiology MEDITECH module on a timely basis.
Keeps up-to-date with changes in the field of radiologic technology by in-service study, attending courses or seminars as necessary and/or recommended, and participating in professional organizations.
Accepts on call and call back as needed to provide optimum patient care.
