Legal Assistant
Job description
A southern New Jersey law office seeks a passionate full time legal assistant for our growing practice. The successful candidate will work with different attorneys, managing his or her schedule based on current demand. We offer the opportunity to gain experience with attorneys who serve in a wide variety of capacities, mainly in the family law and PIP departments. Some after-hours work might be required, especially during times of peak activity.
Candidates must be versed in handling a file from start to finish. Also willing to work independently with attention to detail with solid communication skills and a positive team oriented attitude. Duties include:
- Opening files;
- Meeting with client(s);
- Processing incoming and outgoing mail, (this also includes e-mails, faxes, and E-Courts notices);
- Handling all aspects of scheduling for attorneys;
- Requesting for client records;
- Requesting medical records, billing, and other data;
- Preparing and sending letters to clients and the Court;
- Assisting with court filings - including online Court filings;
- Performing file maintenance;
- Performing data entry into web-based case management programs;
- Assisting as back up on phones; and,
- Assisting in preparation for motions, depositions and other court hearings;
A Qualified Candidate Individual shall must have/be:
- Excellent verbal and written skills;
- Ability to prioritize and multitask;
- Ability to manage deadlines and be detail oriented;
- Excellent computer skills;
- Complete understand of Office 360 including MS Word and Excel;
- Knowledge of Time Matters;
- Understanding of legal and medical terminology;
- Strong emotional and social intelligence;
- Ability to problem solve independently;
- Commitment to excellence.
