Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee and provide day to day administrative support in assigned area
- Serve as liaison and support to other staff attorneys as necessary
- Prepare and monitor the annual budget for the department
- Ensure all proper department expenses are encumbered and invoices are processed timely and paid
- Provide guidance and support to the legal assistants assigned in different areas of county business
- Prepare agenda items to appear before the Board of Commissioners
- Prepare, process and file legal documents and papers, such as summonses, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions, and pretrial agreements
- Complete various forms, such as reports, trial and courtroom requests, court orders and applications for clients
- Attend legal meetings, such as client interviews, hearings, or depositions, and take notes
- Review legal publications and perform database searches to identify laws and court decisions relevant to pending cases
- Submit articles and information from searches to attorneys for review and approval for use
- Conduct legal research and assist with special projects

Knowledge of
- Legal document formats such as contracts, summonses, briefs, motions, etc.
- Administrative and clerical procedures and systems, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
- The structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
- Laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
- Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
- Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
