Assigns and schedules Flight Crew to various training requirements as it relates to Operational Experience (O/E). Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Association (FAA) Regulations, by securing sign off by Line Check Airmen based on Fleet type and seat position for the Fleet Crew.
Responsibilities
- Successfully execute a comprehensive training schedule that meets all FAA and Company requirements.
- Determine each student's O/E requirements by evaluating several factors which include but is not limited to past experience, current performance, flight and Line Check Airmen availability as well as training footprint.
- Coordinate with Crew Planning during the bidding process to determine which students are projected to complete O/E early to be released out into the operations. Create O/E (operational Experience) footprints and collaborate with Crew Planning to complete the manual bid process.
- Coordinate with Line Check Airmen to schedule training events. Provide initial briefing to Line Check Airmen on each student's progress in preparation for upcoming flights.
- Maximize crew capacity and proactively plan for coverage changes during O/E flights due to unforeseen circumstances. Executes recommended recovery options to ensure best decisions are made during irregularities and assist with recovery implementation.
- Ensure compliance and implementation of application Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and Flight Crew collective bargaining agreements are followed in all O/E scheduling practices.
- Serves as an initial point of contact upon completion of Ground School training. Communicate to students and provide essential details related to O/E training logistics. Coordinate initial Familiarization (FAM) flight to observe the operations and gain valuable insight into operating their specific Fleet type prior to O/E training.
- Provides support relative to scheduling forecasts to Fleet Managers and internal Training Center departments, Line Check Airmen and Instructor staffing requirements and operational challenges as it pertains to each student's training.
- Coordinates requests and issues regarding O/E training schedules from students and Line Check Airmen. Modifying schedule changes to accommodate irregularities and Flight Crew requests to avoid a lapse in O/E training.
- Assign various types of bid lines to pair the Line Check Airmen to appropriate flights in accordance with student's training needs and CBA requirements.
- Liaison with Travel department to coordinate gateway travel for students during the O/E training. Assessing legalities and searching for alternatives when travel becomes unavailable (visa requirements, immigration, etc.).
- Schedule annual Line Checks for Captains to fulfill the FAA requirement for currency. Coordinate biennial Line Check Airmen observations with the FAA involvement to maintain their Line Check Airmen status.
- Schedule Proficiency Watch Program (PWP) for designated Flight Crew to evaluate their progress after an unsatisfactory training event.
- Qualify Captains to special airports and Line Check Airmen to LCA only airports to support the fluidity of operations and ensure safety and compliance of Flight Operations.
- Coordinate and track the Consolidation of Knowledge requirements of each student once O/E has been completed. The requirement has to be met in order to avoid a delay in training progress and a Consolidation of Schedule (COS) ride.
- Notify student, each Line Check Airmen and/or other Flight Crew of all checking events and consistently provide updates of all changes to their schedules.
- Provide support to Crew Planning during Flight coverage process to avoid flight cancellations and delays.
- Support Crew Planning on related reports and projects as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- A minimum of three years of comprehensive airline crew scheduling and related experience.
- Minimum one year Crew Planning experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of FAR's as they pertain to Flight Crew flight duties and regulations.
- Working knowledge of the AIMS system.
- Detailed knowledge of world geography as it relates to aircraft movements and crew positioning and de-positioning to and from flights.
- Knowledge of the Atlas Air Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Must possess the personal integrity and administrative skills to gain the confidence of the Flight Crew work force.
- Must demonstrate the desire and the ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment.
- Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, administrative and communication skills.
