Position: Linux and Middleware Engineers

Vendor/Client – ERP Mark INC /Valley Bank

Location: Jersey City, NJ-onsite

Visa- H4 EAD, GC EAD, GC, USC

Job Summary:

As a Linux Patching Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and stability of Linux systems by implementing and maintaining regular patching cycles. You will work closely with other members of the IT team to develop and implement patch management policies and procedures, as well as provide guidance on security best practices.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a patch management program for Linux systems to ensure they are up-to-date and secure.

Perform regular security patching and software updates on Linux systems to address known vulnerabilities and security issues.

Monitor vendor security bulletins and alerts to determine the urgency and priority of patching activities.

Collaborate with other IT teams to schedule patching activities that minimize system downtime and user impact.

Test patches in a non-production environment to ensure they do not adversely affect system performance or functionality.

Monitor patching activities to ensure that all systems are patched in a timely and accurate manner.

Develop and maintain documentation related to patch management activities and procedures.

Conduct security assessments and audits of Linux systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation actions.

Stay up to date with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies in the Linux domain.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field.

3+ years of experience in Linux security and patch management.

In-depth knowledge of Linux security concepts and best practices.

Experience in designing and implementing patch management solutions for Linux systems.

Familiarity with patching tools and technologies, such as Red Hat Satellite or similar.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Relevant industry certifications such as RHCE, CCNA, GIAC, etc. are desirable.

Technologies and Tools

Linux, Apache, Tomcat, TomEE, Java, OpenJDK, Nessus, Bash shell scripting

Good to have: IaC, Jenkins, Gitlab, puppet, Nexpose

*Note: This position requires to work on weekends and non-business hours due to the nature of support and activities to be performed.
