Summary
Operates and monitors the performance of a group of injection molding machines in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP's) and production and quality standards. May be required to stop and start the molding presses, troubleshoot minor auxiliary equipment, and assist in set-up of molding machine and equipment. Monitors and records machine processes, visually inspects product, prepares product for release, and maintains and controls all quality equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform/audit first/last article checks according to control plan
- Responsible for monitoring all auxiliary equipment for proper operation and grinding runners where applicable.
- Responsible for weighing and labeling each bag, box, or tote.
- Ensure all labels are correct according to the work order information.
- Responsible for performing dimensional and visual quality checks.
- Responsible for documentation of the quality checks and corrective actions on the Operator Inspection check-sheet.
- Prepares all paperwork for upcoming changes.
- Responsible for proper handling and documentation of rejected product on the injection molding machines.
- Responsible for the housekeeping of the injection molding machines and surrounding areas as defined in the department procedures.
- Maintains an open line of communication to assure all problems and changes are communicated and resolved in a timely manner.
- As requested, assist other team members in cross-training and conduct on the job training of other associates.
- Actively participates in Continuous Improvement teams and activities, including 5S & housekeeping.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. Minimum 5 years experience within the plastics industry.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of spreadsheet & database software.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
