Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Village of Mill Creek in Battle Creek, Michigan. The selected candidate will have demonstrated their ability to build, install repair and/or maintain machinery, equipment, physical structures, building systems, and the outside environment.

Job Details:
- Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Experience: One to two years of related experience in maintenance is required.
- Computer Skills: Ability to operate a computer and operate maintenance software.
- Certificates & Licenses: Must have a Valid Driver's License; Certification in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC preferred.
- Other Requirements: Required to be on call and respond to maintenance emergencies, as needed.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stand, Walk, Climb, Squat/Kneel, Bend; Lift/Carry 50 lbs. minimum (occasionally); Push/Pull 50 lbs. minimum (up to 100 lbs. occasionally); Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception); Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Essential Responsibilities:
- Receive resident work orders, evaluate work needed, and complete assigned work orders within the required time frame indicating work complete, parts ordered, further work needed, outside contractors needed, etc. utilizing the PMWORX program.
- Communicate with outside vendors on coordinating services including receiving initial proposals for supervisor approval and maintaining required paperwork.
- Required to be on call and respond to maintenance emergencies, as needed.
- Inspect grounds, facilities, and equipment routinely to determine the necessity of repairs or maintenance.
- Assist supervisor with scheduling and conducting unit inspections as required by HUD/MSHDA/PVM policy.
- Inspect, operate, test, maintain and repair mechanical devices, machinery, equipment, and tools.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking repair manuals, or parts catalogs, or utilizing 3rd party vendors as necessary.
- Installs assemble, repairs, and maintains electrical and gas appliances, equipment, systems, fixtures, lights, electronic components, plumbing systems, and fixtures or contacts appropriate 3rd parties as needed and authorized.
- Provide grounds-keeping services, such as landscaping and snow removal.
- Estimate repair costs and complete repairs as authorized or forward to supervisor for authorization.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies following safety procedures
- Assist manager with invoicing and staying within budget.
- Communicate to the administrator the status of projects, outstanding issues, and any relevant information in regard to the department.
- Ensure Housing Quality Standards are followed in units and the entire property (parking lots, community building, etc.).
- Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development.
