Job Profile Summary: Responsible for Volunteer Services strategy development and implementation, including alignment and standardization of tools, processes, and practices across the system. Manage a team of volunteer coordinators to achieve identified goals. Identifies and deploys new volunteer roles and opportunities across the system to enhance patient care and/or client experience. Leads volunteer-focused diversity equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B) work that supports and enhances the volunteer and patient experience.
Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities
  • Program strategy and operations
    • Leads day-to-day strategy deployment of system-wide volunteer services function.
    • Responsible for identifying areas of opportunity for standardization, including volunteer assignments, supervision of volunteers, recruiting, recognition and retention.
    • Prioritizes volunteer services strategies based on alignment with larger organizational strategy and/or impact to local or system-wide priorities.
    • Develops and oversees budgets and financials for assigned projects.
    • Facilitates meetings and manages projects with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Innovates ways to support patient care and community health with volunteers.
    • Leads the development of an evaluation tool to measure impact and opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Staff leadership
    • Manages a team of volunteer services employees.
    • Provides informal leadership support to volunteer services coordinators across the enterprise.
    • Supports the recruitment, interviewing, hiring and onboarding process.
    • Conducts ongoing coaching, assessment, training and education of staff.
    • Completes and conducts employee performance reviews.
    • Responsible for engagement of employees and contributing to annual department-wide engagement plan.
  • Strategic leadership and engagement
    • Advances volunteer services activities through collaborating with senior leadership.
    • Serves as key advisor to the Director Volunteer Services, hospital presidents and other senior leaders regarding volunteer opportunities to support patient care.
    • Leads strategic planning process for volunteer services.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Volunteer management, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work or healthcare related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 5 to 7 years experience in volunteer and/or program management and interacting with volunteers, patients, and customers in a complex environment required
  • 3 to 7 years of people leadership experience required
  • Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services CAVS or CVA designation preferred
