Job description
As an advocate for the business community and its members, the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce strives to be the go-to source of all business information for Surry County, NC, and surrounding areas. The Chamber of Commerce hosts public and private events throughout the year, the largest public event being the Autumn Leaves Festival™, and acts as an additional marketing outlet for all Chamber of Commerce members. The Marketing Director is the manager of all promotions and communications internally and externally of the organization and is responsible for maintaining the brand image as set forth by the nature of the organization and Chamber of Commerce team.
Objectives
Drive event ticket sales
Support new member sales
Promote membership participation
Foster membership retention
Grow social media following and email subscriptions to, in-turn, grow the membership base
Spread awareness about the organization within the business community and general population
Analyze website and social media performance and find areas of improvement
Consistently maintain a good connection with all active Chamber members
Be a liaison for Chamber members and the community through marketing efforts
Act as a secondary marketing outlet for active Chamber members
Responsibilities
Creates marketing materials independently and in a timely manner (publications, flyers, social media content, business cards, ads, banners, logos, posters, billboards, etc.)
Oversees and manages all marketing campaigns from start to finish
Responsible for maintaining the brand of the organization through design consistency
Responsible to managing all internal and external paid advertising medias
Manages and edits MtAiryNCChamber.org and AutumnLeavesFestival.com websites
Communicates daily with members and fulfills social media share requests, Email Blast requests, job posting requests, membership listing requests, etc.
Manages Facebook page(s), Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
Creates newsletters, Email Blasts, newspaper ads
Acts as the official photographer of the organization
Attends all major events and as many minor events and presentations as possible – documents with photos and notes, and assists with other tasks as needed
Attends all Board of Directors meetings and other committee meetings by request or as needed
Works closely with Events and Membership Directors to achieve goals in ticket sales, new member sales, member participation, and member retention
Responsible for posting all events online and setting up online registration
Assists Membership and Events Directors in managing registration lists and membership listings
Responsible for the design and completion of one or more large printed publications each year
Works closely with Event Director to plan Autumn Leaves Festival event, prepare and manage marketing materials, and all other tasks assigned by the Events Director
Skills and Qualifications
2+ years of experience in a marketing management position
2+ years of experience using design software to create marketing materials and social media content
Working knowledge of Facebook, Facebook Ads, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
Experience managing and ability to manage multiple social media accounts simultaneously for a business or non-profit organization. (Must be able to show a track record of managed social media accounts.)
Must be able to write clear and professional copy for social media posts, press releases, newsletters, and blog posts
Expert in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Willingness and ability to learn Chamber Master (CRM system) and Constant Contact programs
Must have the ability to troubleshoot technical issues within software and programs used
Basic knowledge of website editing
Basic knowledge of event photography
Willingness to entertain new ideas and pursue their completion
Must be able to work independently and in a team setting
Must be willing and able to communicate openly and effectively with other staff, Chamber members, business leaders, and other leaders within the community
Must be able to work with a deadline
Preferred Qualifications
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business
Experience in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Acrobat, Lightroom)
Experience in Google Workspace (Docs, Forms, Sheets)
Experience managing websites using WordPress
Experience in email marketing via Constant Contact
Experience managing ticketing / registration programs
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $38,000.00 per year
