Marketing Specialist
Job description
Reports to Executive Director
Primarily responsible for generating contributed funds for the Museum; seeks to increase contributions to and awareness of the Museum over many platforms; develops fund raising activities; and manages, tracks, and writes proposals and grants for major capital support.
General:
· Along with museum Directors, develop 1 and 5-year strategic plan with goals and objectives that support the mission of the museum
· Assist in all aspects of opening/closing procedures for the Museum, including operating the admission desk, phone, and other office duties.
· Maintain a clean and safe environment throughout the Museum at all times
Fund Raising:
· Direct public support such as donations from businesses, private donors, and guests, grants from government and foundations, and local organization contributions
· Scheduling, tracking and writing proposals for major institutional gifts, and developing strong supplementary materials for these proposals
· Growing SGCM’s corporate membership program by identifying, cultivating and soliciting corporate membership gifts, and developing compelling materials to support this work
· Collaborating with SGCM directors to determine needs and evaluate funding opportunities
· Sit on Fundraising Committee
Marketing:
· Development of effective Museum marketing and promotions
· Oversee development and content of the Museum’s social media
· Oversee the design, creation, and maintenance of the Museum newsletter
Community Outreach:
· Identify local community based organizations. Seek ways to collaborate, support, and promote St. George Children’s Museum through these partnerships.
· Establish and maintain good relationships with local educational organizations to promote the education program and volunteer needs of the Museum
· Coordinate Internships and manage this process
Compensation and work schedule:
· Hourly wage will be set at $16/hour with a review period of 3 months
· The Development Coordinator is expected to work at least 20 hours per week but may work up to 30 hours per week
· Hours worked both on and off-site will be scheduled in advance with the scheduling administrator
· All work hours will be logged into ShopKeep
· General activities will be reviewed weekly with the Executive Director
