POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides transportation services for students who meet criteria for McKinney-Vento protections in addition to assisting student support staff in providing for the individual needs of these students in order to help them achieve their maximum academic and social potential.
POSITION FUNDING:
This position will be funded for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years through ESSER III Set Aside Funding.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in spoken and written communication to express and/or exchange ideas
- Ability to establish and follow detailed work procedures with speed and accuracy
- Bilingual ability preferred
- Emotionally mature, objective, and sensitive to the needs of others. Able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, families, and co-workers.
- Ability to quickly respond and adapt to new transportation route assignments on short notice
- Experience working directly with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Familiarity with racial equity and inclusion frameworks
- Complete the HCPS Driver Authorization Form and pass the driving record review process
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides transportation to and from school for students who meet criteria for McKinney-Vento protections in a safe and responsible manner
- Provides transportation to and from necessary appointments or activities for students who meet criteria for McKinney-Vento protections in a safe and responsible manner
- Assists with activities such as record keeping, filing, organizing materials, and maintaining necessary supplies
- Assists with activities to support basic needs of families experiencing homelessness
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assumes responsibility for and participates in staff development (professional growth) and training to keep materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date.
- Follows appropriate safety procedures and properly maintains equipment.
- Responds to telephone, email, and in-person requests, inquiries, and questions in a processional, polite, and responsive manner.
- Demonstrates good attendance and punctuality.
- Maintains confidentiality in all matters.
- Models non-discriminatory practice in all activities. Respects the worth, dignity, and individual difference of others.
- Complies with and supports school division policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Models professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions, including non-discriminatory and cultural inclusion practices by respecting the worth, dignity, and individual beliefs of others.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Regular travel throughout the school and effectively interact with students, staff, and community members. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; and subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members is required. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of licensed personnel.
