Measurement Technician II:
Description: The Measurement Technician II reports directly to the Director of Operations and is responsible for installation, operation, and maintenance of measurement equipment to assure accurate and reliable measurement for the company. This is a mid-level position for employees with a minimum 2+ years of natural gas measurement related experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and complete all required calibration tests on time, and when required coordinate these activities with producers and 3rd party processors.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on Electronic Flow Meters (EFMs), primary measurement devices, gas chromatographs, continuous samplers, and related equipment.
  • Review and evaluate flow data to determine the need for orifice plate changes and size, to increase accuracy of the measurement data, and ensure that differential pressures are within desired limits.
  • Schedule gas and liquid sample collections as routine dictates, and when required coordinate these activities with pertinent 3rd parties.
  • Clean and inspect meter tubes as necessary
  • Test pressure equipment (worker device), including valves/OPPs, transmitters, etc. as required.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain AC & DC power systems, including solar.
  • Operate and maintain various gas quality analyzers (O2, H2O, H2S, CO2 etc.)
  • Rebuild meter fittings, samplers, GC’s, and miscellaneous equipment as necessary.
  • Install, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain radio and cellular communications equipment.
  • Basic EFM programing, including setting up meter stations, meter tubes, gas analysis, and mod-bus data communications.
  • Commissioning and startup of gas measurement equipment and Field Measurement sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills
  • The ability to understand meter schematics, pipeline flow characteristics, and to have a fundamental knowledge of plant and pipeline operations.
  • Basic computer skills, such as emailing, saving, copying, moving, finding files, as required to utilize specialized software to interface with Electronic Flow Meters (EFMs), Gas Chromatographs, and other related equipment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Analytical and abstract thinking skills and ability to quickly process information and solve problems.
  • Conscientious individual who strives for excellence and continuously seeks improvement in systems and procedures, dedicated to the profitability of the Company within stringent legal and ethical standards.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and apply information in O&M and equipment manuals.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of people, including Measurement Analysts, Producer customers and Management, at all levels both internal and external to the Company.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of natural gas measurement related experience.
  • Self-motivated and able to work day-to-day independently in a “field” setting, with minimal direct supervision while upholding the highest ethical standards.
  • Available by phone to be dispatched to measurement issues or emergencies as needed.
  • Willing and available to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells, carry up to 50 pounds and to see, hear, walk, and talk effectively.
  • Operating Company-owned vehicle in safe and responsible manner.
  • Must be able to comprehend and perform all work safely following Company Policies, Industry Practices, established department SOP’s.
  • High School diploma or GED
