Gertens is looking for a Seasonal Shop Assistant to help us through the busy Spring and Summer months.

As the Mechanic Shop Assistant you will perform maintenance and repairs as well as completing minor mechanical repairs/replacements with supervision from the mechanic. The Shop Assistant will also be responsible for washing and cleaning the Gertens Fleet, assist mechanics and run parts as needed.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Performs minor repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services for company fleet and utility vehicles.
• Assists with service calls for breakdowns
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures to avoid personal injury and property damage.
• Conducts safety checks on vehicles
• Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. Maintain tool cleanliness and keep shop free from clutter by putting tools, and other items away in appropriate storage areas.
• Assists with inventory maintenance of replacement parts and equipment, runs parts as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to frequently walk/stand on concrete for prolonged periods of times.
• Ability to frequently bend, kneel and work with arms raised.
• Ability to frequently perform repetitive tasks, manual dexterity.
• Must be able to frequently lift up to 25lbs and occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
