LAKE SUPERIOR CONSULTING is currently growing at a fast pace and as part of that growth, we are seeking to fill a position as a Mechanical Engineer III in Houston, TX; Duluth, MN; Minneapolis, MN; Pittsburgh, PA; Nashville, TN; Omaha, NE, or in a remote US location.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and optimization of energy-related facilities and pipeline systems, project management, and occasional construction management projects from inspection through delivery. The position will be required to perform engineering analysis and develop reports, as well as provide guidance to more junior personnel. Professional Engineer licensure is highly desired for an Engineer III, EIT is required.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to provide engineering expertise for estimating, system design, layout and functionality, construction management, or commissioning functions for projects involving pipelines and related facilities for energy-related infrastructure.
- Willingness to provide technical assistance to Engineering and Operations Departments to resolve operating problems or to establish best operating practices.
- Accurately complete projects using engineering principles and techniques.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical reports.
- Develop design details of interpretation of specifications and existing designs and drawings.
- Confer with other engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Perform basic modifications to computer aided design (CAD) and drafting functions to assist in completion of project deliverables.
- Perform design analyses and write technical reports.
- Provide direction to more junior personnel. Professional Engineers will be required to approve and stamp engineering designs.
Position Requirements:

- Ability to quickly adapt to diverse needs and changing projects, as well as scope changes from the client.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited university
- 4+ years of working experience required.
- Strong communication skills.
- Leadership.
- Ability to work in group settings with a project team.
- Competency with Microsoft office suite (word, excel, outlook, etc.).
- The position will typically require less than 10% travel
- Oil/Gas experience, a plus.
- Effectively communicate scope and execute projects with multi-disciplinary team (EE, CE, SE, CAD, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and effectively perform engineering design functions in a remote and/or office environment.
- Understand the importance of client relations and effectively communicate with clients.
Physical Requirements and Demands:
- Frequent periods of standing for long periods.
- Occasional lifting in up to 50lbs.
- Exposure to weather including heat and cold climates.
- Ability to work long hours when projects demand.
