Summary Description

The Membership Advisor must have an enthusiasm for overall wellness and fitness and is responsible for producing consistent sufficient sales to achieve established weekly, monthly and annual sales goals necessary to grow net membership. The Membership Advisor continuously participates in sales training and is required to accurately track and report all vital sales statistics. This position assists in the completion of any administrative functions necessary on behalf of the Membership department while effectively processing and integrating new members into Woodside. This position is responsible for reaching out to other departments to establish new member activity interests and ensure the members’ needs are being met.

Duties / Responsibilities

Membership Sales

· Vigorously pursues prospects for new members while utilizing the following methods; networking, phone calls, walk-ins, emails, cold calling and works to generate referrals from existing members by building relationships

· Actively participates in regular sales training sessions with Director of Membership

· Works with the Director of Membership on member tour schedule, follow ups and maintains required closing percentage to ensure growth of new member enrollments

· Leads prospect tours (walk-in or appointment) of the Club and cultivates relationships, not just appointments; excellent customer service

· When requested by the Director of Membership, acts as Woodside’s representative at local business networking organization events and other related after-hours functions

· Maintains a working knowledge of local competitors and their offerings – is always prepared to support Club services and amenities to potential new members

· Schedules and conducts follow-up with prospects after tours, if sale was not accomplished on first visit

Membership Retention

· Properly integrates and follows up with all newly enrolled members and thoroughly addresses questions or concerns from those members

· Enforces and upholds the spirit of the Rules & Regulations of the Club in all instances

· Makes timely responses to incoming email and phone member inquiries and concerns

· Reaches out to new members who enrolled within their first month to welcome them to the Club – with phone call; logs feedback to share with Director of Membership

· During new member enrollment, Membership Advisor is required to set/schedule the free training hour via the online training team scheduler

· Assigns new member “free” services to appropriate Department Head

· Interacts on a regular basis with members, reinforcing Club benefits, addressing concerns, issues or problems, including engaging in membership events, fitness classes, spa services, tennis, etc. – makes Management aware or any member shifting of attitudes and/or trends

· Interacts with staff to gain insights, feedback and general information regarding member satisfaction

Administrative

· Establishes a daily schedule of appointments for prospective new members

· Tracks all sales activities including: leads, tours, follow ups, closing percentage and sales numbers

· Maintains up to date reporting and Inputs monthly sales figures for quarterly/annual membership analysis

· When tours are not booked, works with Front Desk team to perform floating tasks like tennis court lights, locker assistance, member support and other front desk/membership related tasks

· Complies with Club’s employee handbook manual, departmental policies and procedures and with all applicable federal and state employment laws

· Participates and fulfills all requirements set forth in the Continuing Education Curriculum (Woodside University) Program

· Completes all other duties as directed/assigned

Job Standards

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

Education/Experience:

· Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience with proven track record in sales and ability to show

examples of goals achieved

Skills:

· Enthusiastic about wellness/fitness; excellent customer service skills

· Excellent communication and presentation skills

· Strong writing skills, with the impact of influencing behavior

· Demonstrates creativity, diplomacy and ability to remain calm under pressure

· Strong organizational skills; results driven and strategic thinker

· Proficiency in MS Office and a good working knowledge of office equipment

Knowledge:

· Marketing and sales techniques

Licenses:

· Valid Driver’s License – Valid Driver’s License - or reliable transportation to and from work

Special Requirements:

· Excellent working relations with club and employee community

· Regular and predictable attendance is required

· Due to the nature of this position, this individual is required to work evenings and weekends

· Ability to move throughout the Club up and down stairs and actively participate in tours of facility

· Visual acuity for computer work

· Ability to type on keyboard up to 50% of time

Working Conditions:

· General office environment with multiple buildings and surfaces; ability to move about the property and community in variety of weather
