Position Summary:
The Assistant Principal is responsible for leading a results-oriented, collaborative learning community that delivers engaging, rigorous instruction to all students. This position is responsible for assisting the school principal in the leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school culture, instructional programming, and operations. This position participates in meetings, workshops, conferences for the purposes of conveying or gathering information to support the position and the school. The Assistant Principal accomplishes this by developing a dynamic team of educators and leading implementation of a comprehensive standards-aligned curriculum and culturally relevant educational program designed to drive growth and achievement for all students. The Assistant Principal is also responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the school in absence of the School Principal


Instructional Leadership

  • Assist the principal in the collaborative development, implementation and ongoing refinement of the school's plan for school improvement.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of a cohort of teachers to support professional growth and teacher efficacy
  • Lead a result-oriented, collaborative learning community.
  • Lead the school in the collaborative implementation and ongoing refinement of the school’s plan for school improvement
  • Assist the principal with the development and implementation of a comprehensive curriculum and program of services.
  • Support the development differentiated professional development aligned to the school’s mission and improvement plan and lead PD sessions as requested
  • Provide instructional coaching and support for teachers to assist teachers in evaluating methods and materials and developing effective learning plans, classroom management techniques, data driven processes, and in providing rigorous, relevant instruction.
  • Lead the implementation of a comprehensive standards-aligned curriculum and culturally relevant educational program designed to drive growth and achievement for all students.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead the development of a dynamic team including hiring, developing, and retaining quality teachers and staff.
  • Oversee work of operations coordinator to monitor and resolve issues that may arise regarding school operations including school facilities upkeep, substitute processes, lunchroom operations, and bus schedules and student issues related to bussing.
  • Oversee the management of the 740 budget including coordinating with operations coordinator to ensure that expenditures and revenues are accurately tracked, PO's are processed in a timely manner, etc.
  • Lead the planning and organizing of the school day and year to maximize instructional time and to provide for efficient operations of the school.
  • Manage school system for attendance including tracking attendance and tardies and outreach to families of students with attendance needs.
  • Keeps the superintendent informed of the school progress in reaching its goals, any challenges or barriers that arise, and any immediate concerns impacting the students, school, or district.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for the safety of the building and students.
  • Ensures school is compliant with applicable federal and state laws, district policies, and applicable regulations.

  • Support the Principal in the transformation of the school culture into a result-oriented, collaborative learning community.
  • Manage the reporting and monitoring of student attendance including strategies to address student attendance per state statutes and district policy.
  • Lead a positive, values-driven culture of consistent high expectations.
  • Lead an inclusive, culturally responsive school culture that successfully engages a diverse population.
  • Provides oversight into behavioral supports for high needs students including supervising behavioral specialist and ensuring coordination of services for high needs students and families with family advocate and external community partners.
  • Support the Principal with the management of Tier I culture systems including a system to positively reinforce school-wide expectations for behavior and engagement.
  • Support the Principal with oversight to the MTSS process including the system for referring and tracking students needing Tier II and Tier III support in behavior and academics.
  • Provides support for parent engagement and communications.
  • Lead the school strategy for engaging parents and community to support student success.


Candidate Profile


Education and Certification:


  • Master’s Degree (Required)

Administrative License (Required)

  • Assistant Principal License for Colorado or verification of entrance

into the program(Required)


Experience and Skills:


  • High level of organization and timeliness
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in the use of data and assessments to drive instructional
decisions
  • Leadership experience in schools
  • Experience developing and leading teacher teams
  • High level of personal organization and planning
  • Technology proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Work efficiently with staff
