Entertainment Ranger
Overview:
Adventures in Writing Camp is seeking a creative, zany, theatrical, musical, and (preferably) credentialed classroom teacher to inspire campers through musical writing instruction. The ideal candidate loves wearing costumes, and probably has an overflowing costume box they wish they could use more often!

What you’ll do...
As the Entertainment Ranger, you will embody the fun, musical culture at camp. You will serve as “director” of daily morning and afternoon assemblies. You will be leading camp sing-alongs as well as teaching writing lessons delivered as songs (with accompanying dance moves!) each day. The ability to sing and dance is a must. The ability to sing and dance well is a bonus!
You will be delivering one 50 minute lesson four times (once each to grades 2-5). You will have 30 minutes of morning prep-time, and though we will provide you with music and a lesson plan to lead your sessions, we will empower you to bring your own personality and interests to these activities and you will experience a personal sense of accomplishment as your campers succeed.
A local college student, “Adventure Guide,” will be available to support you during classroom sessions. We anticipate a ratio of approximately 1 teacher to 16-25 students.
The Entertainment Ranger will spend approximately 17 hours leading music based writing activities. The musical ranger’s schedule also includes “MC-ing” 5 hours of assembly, 2.5 hours of greeting families at drop-off and pick-up times, 3.5 hours of paid lunch break, 2.5 hours of paid prep time, and 1.5 hours of meetings. The Entertainment Writing Ranger will be on site from 8:15 am – 3:15 pm.
What we’re looking for...
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Experience working with K-5th grade children
- Current First Aid CPR Certification
- Proficient with iPads, iMovie and general AV equipment (including projectors, speakers, and PA systems.
- Excellent communicator (with parents, staff, and Site Administrator)
Time Commitment and Schedule
You will be hired to work a two-week session. You may have the opportunity to work multiple sessions depending on location. Camps typically start in early to mid June and conclude in mid August.
Attend a one-day on-site All Camp Training (June 17th)
Be on-site daily from 8:15am to 3:15pm. For the sake of the kids’ experience, it is expected that applicants plan to be available all ten days of any camp session they are working.

Compensation & Benefits
- Daily pay is between $225/day depending upon experience and credential status. For the sake of the kids’ experience, it is expected that applicants plan to b555e available all ten days of camp.
- Temporary employee (non-benefited)
- Paid sick leave is accrued at a rate of one hour per every thirty hours worked. Accrual begins on the first day of employment. Paid sick leave may be used beginning on the 90th day of employment.
