Grand Canyon Education is currently seeking a Network Administrator to support the enterprise and distributed partner networks for GCE and GCU. The Network Administrator is responsible for full life cycle management of campus and data center networks including LAN, WAN, WLAN, network security and associated technologies. In our hybrid working environment, time for this position is split between working from home/remotely and being on-site, with most days being needed on-site.
A Day in the Life of a WLAN/LAN/WAN administrator might include:
- Meeting with partner customers to design or re-design the wireless deployment at a campus building.
- Mentoring and teaching junior network administrators in fulfilling customer requests or troubleshooting.
- Gathering vendor quotes for solutions and developing recommendations for lifecycle management, new builds, or updates.
- Meeting with third parties to design integrations for services, software, or hardware.
- Taking advantage of online training opportunities to grow and develop knowledge and skills.
- Presenting network designs to executive leaders using Zoom, PowerPoint, Visio, whiteboarding and other media.
Responsibilities:
- Research and recommend upgrades/optimizations of deployed technologies.
- Participate in network infrastructure design and implementation (LAN, WAN, WLAN), heavy emphasis on wireless in a campus environment.
- Manage, support, and troubleshoot complex network topologies and systems (Routing, Switching, Wireless, Load Balancing, Firewalls, VPN).
- Conduct packet capture analysis and troubleshooting.
- Able to work “on call” as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related technical discipline acquired through a regionally accredited institution AND
- 5 years’ experience as a system or network administrator
OR
- Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- Experience with or substantial knowledge in most of the following areas:
- Networking (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, SDWAN)
- Cisco Catalyst/Nexus platforms
- Cisco/Palo Alto Firewalls
- Citrix/F5 load balancers
- Data Center technologies is a plus (VXLAN, ACI)
- Must work evenings, weekends, holidays as required to provide support and maintenance for systems, and to ensure 24/7 support and troubleshooting.
- Must be willing to work “on call” as needed.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
