Job Duties

THIS IS A RESTRICTED POSITION, WHICH IS SOLELY FUNDED BY THE RECURRING FEDERAL WIC GRANT FOR A PERIOD ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2023. THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDING IS SCHEDULED FOR REVIEW BEFORE THE GRANT EXPIRATION DATE. EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT ON THE CONTINUED AVAILABILITY OF GRANT FUNDS.

As an accredited Competent Professional Authority (CPA), independently determines nutrition eligibility of applicants/clients within program guidelines.

Independently prescribes appropriate food packages.

Assesses nutritional status/eligibility for program services by: dietary recall/food frequency history, assessing growth patterns, weight patterns, biochemical values and medical history.

Independently sets dietary goals based on the assessment.

Provides patient counseling specific to the individual's nutritional needs.

Makes referrals for high risk counseling with Nutritionist when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess basic knowledge of nutrition and nutritional standards.

Must complete required training to obtain the certification as a Competent Professional Authority within 6 months of hire.

Must demonstrate the ability to: interview clients and collect client information; interpret, document, calculate and compile routine data and provide patient education

Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of patients and work effectively as a member of a healthcare team

Must possess skills using computer systems and systems required to support the programs

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in nutrition or a related field. Training or coursework in Dietetics, food services, or a related area.

Experience obtaining blood samples/finger sticks.
