Position: Operations Specialist (or Accounting/Data Specialist) - Entry Level to Experienced. We are willing to train.
Summary: Candidate will support agency staff members and serve KorthaseFlinn’s clients by conducting a wide range of client service, accounting, administrative, data, and marketing focused duties in a friendly, professional, and confidential manner.

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt
Location: Choice of Traverse City, Petoskey, or East Jordan office. We are a retail environment. Due to the demands of this role, in office presence will be required. After training, nominal amounts of work from home may be possible to accommodate the general demands of life. We do our best to support our staff’s needs including occasional remote work when life happens. However, if your goal is to regularly work remotely, this is not currently the right role.

Accountabilities:
Core
- Create a positive experience in every interaction with internal and external customers.
- Maintain confidentiality, both within and outside the agency, of all information encountered in the course of performing assigned duties.
- Pivot gracefully from one task to another and back based on flow of interruptions.
- Greet and assist incoming clients and visitors, including processing client payments.
- Assist in routing overflow call volume from the various call queues.
- Route agency mail within the office or via interoffice on a daily basis. (We work continually to eliminate mail.)
- Participate occasionally in office coverage at various KorthaseFlinn locations.
- Participate actively and cooperatively in a team that supports five offices and growing. There will be a team of three cross trained individuals sharing a range of responsibilities.
- Take ownership of your learning and growth.
- Recognize, accept, and assimilate feedback from clients and team members.
- Coordinate purchasing for all offices.
- Take active role in agency management system data input, maintenance, and monitoring.
- Share in driving technology adoption.
- Contribute to advancing the quality of date collection and reporting.
- Drive quality assurance with reviews of transactions processed by you and other staff members.
Advanced
- Perform higher level accounting functions: Journal Entries, Reconciliations, Financial Analysis.
- Evaluate and Develop Metrics and Supportive Reporting from multiple systems.
- Refine and distill processes with an eye toward increasing automation of rote tasks.
- Coordinate roll out and management of digital marketing campaigns.
The successful candidate’s knowledge, experience, abilities, and desire to grow will ultimately define the initial scope of this role and the depth to which she or he reaches into the Advanced duties over time.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Baccalaureate/Associate Degree welcome.
Experience: Office and/or computer experience will push your name up on the list.
Skills:
- Concise and effective communication, both written and oral.
- STRONG attention to detail.
- Ability to recognize when to ask additional questions.
- Preference will be given to those with some experience using Excel. Strong preference will be given to candidates with higher level Excel skills or who have worked with any kind of QL reporting tool. However, there is no specific requirement.

- Must have a clean history – You will be required to submit to a background check by our Broker Dealer. (If you have questions, feel free to bring them up early.)

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range of $36,000 to high $40,000s based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Potential for some incentives.
