Summary
Under the supervision of the Department Director and Chairman, the PACS Administrator is responsible for overseeing the operational, fiscal and human resources for the picture archiving and communication system (PACS). This individual will act as a direct liaison in digital imaging initiatives within the department and other departments and/or facilities. The PACS Administrator is further responsible for driving successful integration of the PACS product and related systems support in operating systems, network interface software and system administration software.
Education
Bachelor's degree in related healthcare or information systems discipline required. Certification (CIIP, PARCA) or experience may be substituted for BS degree.
Experience
Two years related experience required; technologist education/certification strongly preferred (RT, U/S, CT, etc.). Will consider candidates who are technologists who possesses unique clinical knowledge experience and/or candidates with IT/PACS experience. Three years related experience as PACS or RIS Administrator may be substitution for Bachelor's degree.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
Project management involving PACS is preferred.
Responsibilities

Manages day-to-day operations of radiology and cardiology PACS system including data QA, corruptedstudies, RIS/HIS/PACS interface, etc.

Keeps abreast of current Radiology Information Technology Systems/Applications/etc.

Works closely with other corporate partners (CIC, COPA, DHC, etc.) to coordinate strategic planning formedical imaging initiatives.

Oversees activities of vendors in all phases of installation and implementation of new and/or existingsystems.

Prepares reports for Radiology and Cardiology management on all aspects of medical imaging operations as appropriate or directed.

Assists and trains all clinical staff (includes but not limited to radiologists, ED physicians, techs) in the use of PACS.

Adheres to department policy and procedures, and practices modality specific safety protocols.

Actively engages in departmental, team and committee initiatives.

Completes hospital, departmental, and professional requirements.

Performs other duties as assigned.
