Part time Faculty: History Instructor
Job description

Possible courses may be scheduled during the daytime, evening, or on weekends; may be taught in-person, hybrid, or synchronous online. Locations for instruction may include the college's main campus, or alternate locations, including at local partner high schools.
Course Descriptions:
HIST 1450: World Civilization I: The Ancient and Medieval World (3 units of load): This course is a survey of world history from its earliest origins in the Near East through 1500. It is designed to provide students with an understanding of the Western and non-Western political, religious, economic, intellectual, and cultural evolution of world history.
HIST 1550 - World Civilization II: The Modern World (3 units of load): The course explores the development of the world from 1500 to the present. It is designed to provide students with an understanding of the key facets of non-Western and Western social, political, economic, cultural, religious, and intellectual history.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaches assigned courses in areas of competency in a manner consistent with institutional and course goals and objectives.
Sets attainable instructional goals and objectives which are compatible with the approved rationale for each course taught.
Develops course syllabi consistent with official course outlines on file and distributes course syllabi to students.
Selects suitable learning resources.
Plans field trips, experiments, practice sessions, or other support activities which directly relate to course goals and objectives when appropriate.
Evaluates students to determine progress toward course goals and objectives.
Uses reasonable precaution to help maintain a safe and healthy environment for students
Attends department meetings and may recommend revisions to the course or curricula.
Remains current with the field(s) of assigned instruction and related occupational areas.
Acquires, maintains, and applies knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials.
Attends, as appropriate, divisional and professional development in-service activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Master's degree and 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline (either as part of the degree or additional work beyond the degree)
Preferred:
- Master's degree in history and experience teaching college-level courses at a community college.
COMPENSATION:
