Patron Services Assistant
Part Time; Non-Exempt Status
Reports to: Box Office Manager
Average hours per week: 20
The Patron Services Assistant serves as a welcoming first point of contact for patrons and sets the tone for the overall visitor experience at Waterville Creates programs and events. The Patron Services Assistant proactively engages with visitors and patrons to the Paul J. Schupf Art Center and ensures that all front of house locations, including the Ed Harris Box Office, the Waterville Opera House + Maine Film Center concessions areas, and the Ticonic Gallery welcome desk, are kept clean, organized, and attractive. The Patron Services Assistant readily shares information about all events and programs, sells tickets and concessions, and fields general inquiries as needed. This position is responsible for providing daily cash-up and transaction activity reports.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
· Ensures a welcoming environment and vibrant visitor experience for all Waterville Creates programs at the Paul J. Schupf Art Center and the Waterville Opera House.
· Proactively greets visitors and patrons; processes ticket, concessions, and merchandise sales efficiently and with ease; sets the tone for visitor experience through active visitor engagement, fielding questions, and providing guests with general program information for all divisions in a welcoming and inclusive manner.
· Reports all concerns with an appropriate level of expediency to supervisor, management, or relevant authorities.
· Shares all patron suggestions and feedback with supervisor + management team.
· Prepares and serves concessions, including alcoholic beverages in accordance with health, safety, and legal requirements.
· Maintains cleanliness of concessions area and associated seating areas; properly sanitizes all food preparation equipment.
· Delivers daily transaction reports from online and cash register point of sale systems.
· Assists with set up and staffing of special events and programs.
· Attends all-staff meetings and reviews staff emails during shift.
· Assists Waterville Creates’ senior staff as assigned.
· Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements
· Previous experience in a customer service environment.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, positive and enthusiastic demeanor.
· Creative problem solver; collaborative team player; strong organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to work independently with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
· Familiarity with common computer systems, including Microsoft Office; previous experience with ticketing management systems a plus.
· Requires shift work during afternoons, nights, and weekends, as well as during the Maine International Film Festival, Waterville Opera House productions, and Ticonic Gallery + Studios events as scheduled.
Physical Demands/Conditions/Requirements:
Work is performed in a general office and theater environment. Light lifting (up to 50 pounds) required. Full range of physical mobility including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, carrying, reaching and manual dexterity is required. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary.
