Job Profile Summary: Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, provides basic drug distribution and drug preparation services. Checks pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, prepares labels, calculates quantities and assists with other pharmaceutical therapies.
Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities
- Prepares medications.
- Prepares and selects medications for distribution.
- Performs data entry, adjudication, filling, labeling and bagging of prescriptions.
- Assists Pharmacists in compounding processes as allowed.
- Processes refills requests and prior authorizations.
- Monitors inventory.
- Performs daily ordering.
- Performs inventory management.
- Uses wholesaler return programs and supports reverse distribution processes.
- Complete and document quality assurance activities.
- Monitors expiration dating.
- Ensures pharmacy environment is clean and free of clutter, safe, and presents a professional atmosphere. Reports discrepancies or inaccuracies to pharmacist or supervisor.
- Completes audits for days supply, signatures, dates, take as directed and returns-to-stock.
- Monitors internal and external required processes.
- Documents and complies with standards for any active accreditations.
- Performs daily cash control routines where needed.
- Maintains organized records of invoices, reports, and other important documents.
- Supports daily controlled substance routines.
- Provides customer service.
- Answers phone and directs calls to appropriate party.
- Manages point of sale activities.
- Consults refill management programs to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective utilization of medications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description, with high school diploma or GED preferred
- Vocational or Technical Training from an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred
- 2+ years of pharmacy technician experience preferred
- Registered Pharmacy Technician - MN Board of Pharmacy required if working in the state of MN upon hire
- Certified Pharmacy Technician - National Certification Board (PTCB preferred) within 6 months of hire required
