Essex Westford School District is seeking a PK-5 Substitute Teacher Specialist to join the Essex Elementary School team, beginning in the 23/24 school year. This position substitutes for a variety of teacher and paraeducator positions ensuring consistency and quality of instruction; providing student supervision to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students, and enabling planning time for teachers.This is an excellent opportunity for a starting educator seeking more training and experience and those interested in becoming elementary school teachers. During the school year, the employment is full-time (8 hours per day).EWSD offers excellent benefits including generous paid time off, medical, and dental insurance, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, and a retirement plan with up to 6% employer contribution.Primary job duties include but are not limited to, the following:
- Short and semi-long term substituting for licensed educators (no more than 30 consecutive days)
- Short-term substitute coverage for a variety of paraprofessional positions
- Provide orientation and support for new substitute teachers in the school.
- Assist with coordination of substitute coverage
- Provide general administrative, classroom, and school-wide support
- Experience working with elementary-aged students strongly desired.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to engage students.
- Ability to effectively redirect/manage behaviors as appropriate, training will also be provided.
- Commitment and dedication to a safe and respectful learning environment for all.
