Position Summary:
The on-call Podcast Host is a highly collaborative, creative storyteller obsessed with building community around their show. The host works closely with producers, reporters and editors to make original, on demand content for diverse audiences. They participate in all aspects of production of the podcast including generating ideas for episodes, conducting interviews, writing and reporting, anchoring the podcast and supporting the production of content under the podcast brand across platforms. The host will have a passion and expertise for the show’s area of focus and serves as a public representative of the show externally.
This is an on-call role.
Compensation: The pay rate for this opportunity will be no less than $38.70 per hour and no more than $60.00 per hour. Exact pay rate determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, budget and internal equity. The grade of this position is WF.
Position Responsibility:
- Supports the development of the overarching narrative and creative framework of our podcasts.
- Hosts and writes podcasts and contributes regularly to SCPR’s digital platforms with original text, interviews and other content as assigned.
- Develops and executes ideas for episodes, written posts, and digital extras across platforms.
- Conceives, proposes, plans and researches ideas for podcast, live events, and additional digital content.
- Participates and helps guide editorial meetings, suggesting ideas for stories, guests, and new approaches to telling stories.
- Engages with the audience through social media when appropriate/Works with social media team to maximize community impact.
- Ensure that all stories comply with SCPR standards and practices.
- Conducts interviews and works with producers and editors to gather other audio elements for podcast production.
- Edits digital audio and assembles show as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience working collaboratively with creative and editorial talent
- A passion for creating excellent content
- Must be creative, have good interpersonal skills, and have the ability to multi-task
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong and clear communication style
- Ability to meet all deadlines with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail
- Become and remain a member in good standing of SAG-AFTRA by the thirtieth (30th) day of employment.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Hands-on audio editing skills (currently in use or in your past)
- Fluency in Spanish or other non-English languages commonly spoken in Southern California.
