Responsibilities

• Monitor the pool area to warn against inappropriate activity and to be cognizant of any need for personal assistance.
• Control the number of people in the pool at any given time to ensure that the pool is not overcrowded, according to Red Cross standards.
• Enforces the property's rules at all times for use of and activity in and around the pool, including wearing appropriate attire.
• Clean and test the pool each morning before it opens, during the day, and after it closes.
• Ensure the pool area is always clean and in good repair, with the responsibility of calling the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) as needed for maintenance or cleaning assistance. Perform various maintenance duties as directed.
• Responsible for opening and closing the pool area at the appropriate times each day the pool is open.
• Ensure that all gates to the area are locked at the end of each day.
• Ensure that food and beverages are not brought into the pool area.
• Perform and maintain appropriate activity reports.
• Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all residents, families, visitors, vendors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
• Follow and adhere to all WinnSafe policies, practices, and procedures.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Prior experience in lifeguarding surveillance and rescue technique.
• Ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Outstanding customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
• CPR/AED certification.
