GENERAL FUNCTION AND JOB DUTIES
Central Piedmont is in search of a Pre-Press & Printing Production Coordinator for the Central Campus.
Campus Printing and Signs is located near Uptown Charlotte. We are a full-service facility, providing high-quality printing and copying services to students, faculty, employees, and local non-profit organizations. We operate Eco-solvent Large Format Printers and perform finishing methods on produced graphics and signage (mounting, laminating, and installing window film and decals. The successful candidate will be willing to learn and enjoy working in a team environment.
General Function
This position assists in coordinating pre-press and print projects from the initial phase of reviewing client requirements.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
1. Processes jobs and prioritizes work to meet production schedules.
2. Assists in the development of the printing schedule, entering jobs in the database, determining priorities, setting deadlines, and planning production.
3. Operates black & color digital high-volume printers, prepares & manipulate digital graphic files/hardcopies for printing
4. Operates Eco-solvent large format printers and perform finishing methods on produced graphics and signage (mounting, laminating and cutting.
5. Operates small bindery equipment.
6. Creates invoices and process charges for orders: Maintains accurate records of all charges on account.
7. Receives data and check for accuracy; enter information into Datatel and Printing software. Update and maintain files and databases.
8. Assists in preparing quote for Community Relations and Marketing Services.
9. Maintains supplies, paper stock, etc., and maintains inventory. Order supplies from vendors per instruction department management.
10. Communicates effectively with customers and other personnel on status of printing jobs.
11. Performs routine maintenance & troubleshoots equipment malfunctions.
12. Knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and researches and evaluates new technologies.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Characteristics
- Familiarity with Digital printing software Fiery, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and other Adobe products.
- Strong conceptual, creative skills and ability to communicate ideas effectively.
- Judges whether printed materials are of sufficient quality.
- Make quick & correct decisions with limited information under tight deadlines.
- Working knowledge of all printing, binding, and pre-press / design processes.
- Skilled in the operation of various reproduction equipment.
- Knowledge of operation and maintenance of all related printing/copying equipment.
- Knowledge of large format printers / Install experience (window film) a plus but not required.
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Anticipated Hiring Date: May 8, 2023
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Work Hours: 40 hours
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience in a similar position or;
associate degree from an accredited institution in Graphic Arts.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary for this position is $41,600. Pay grade for this position is J. Initial placement for new employees is customarily at entry level through 25% percentile. Contract type is Classified. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours, evening and weekend assignments may be required of any position. All positions are subject to budget approval.
