Serene Gardens of Sterling Heights, formerly Sterling Heights Comfort Care, a beautiful senior living community, is hiring part-time and full-time Prep Cooks for our community. If you enjoy working within the kitchen of a senior community we would like to speak with you!

Responsibilities Include

• Prepare all food items to company specifications, including cleaning and cutting ingredients needed for recipes of menu items; may assist in cooking food items
• Comprehend and follow designated instructions in determining preparation quantities
• Use equipment as prescribed in preparation of menu items
• Safely and efficiently use knives and other utensils necessary to complete preparation of menu items
• Prepare food items according to prescribed recipes
• Master functions specific to menu item preparation requirements
• Operate all functions of position alone and without assistance if necessary
• Perform calmly and effectively under pressure
• Perform varied duties to ensure proper kitchen operation according to policies and procedures
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure safety
• Maintain food quality standards
• Communicate problems to management immediately
• Make appropriate judgment calls
• Maintain clean and orderly work area throughout shift and leave it ready for shift or day
• Follow proper hand washing procedures
• Follow sanitation guidelines according to policy and procedure
• Inventory supplies and communicate needs to management
• Assists with stocking and organizing deliveries
• Responsible for the setup, operation, break down, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment
• May need to assist with washing dishes, sweeping/mopping floors, cleaning and maintaining equipment, sanitizing utensils, etc.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED, required
• ServSafe Certified, preferred
• At least 1 year of experience in the food service industry, preferred
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work well unsupervised

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Shift:

• Day shift
• Evening shift

Weekly day range:

• Monday to Friday
• Rotating weekends
• Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Sterling Heights, MI 48314: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
