Discovery PitStop Early Learning Environment is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Teacher for our Preschool program! We are seeking applicants that are nurturing leaders with a passion for supporting teachers.
Lead Teacher Job Description

• Prepare and enhance lesson plans aligned with Discovery PitStop Curriculum
• Manage classrooms of 8 to 12 children
• Adhere to daily schedules, routines and procedures
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations
• Attend regularly scheduled professional development and staff training sessions
• Plan and host parent and community events
• Maintain communication with parents
• Supervise other teaching staff

Lead Teacher Qualifications

• BA, or MS in Early Childhood Education or Education related field
• NYS Initial Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Education preferred
• At least 2 years teaching experience of children under age 6
• Knowledge of current teaching philosophies and educational research
• Ability to meet all physical requirements of working with young children, including lifting, walking up and down stairs, and sitting on the floor
• Must be articulate and possess strong written communication skills
• Experience in early childhood leadership and teacher coaching preferred

Recommended (Please include in Cover Letter)

• Bilingual (Spanish)
• Creative talents or expertise in technology, science, art, music, cooking, second languages, dance, yoga, etc.
• Familiarity with Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Bedford Stuyvesant, and/or Downtown Brooklyn neighborhoods

Competitive Salary and Benefits

Schedule will be between 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday (40 hrs/week)
