Position: Flexographic Press Operator/ Cutting

Department: Printing

Reporting to: Printing Supervisor

Essential Duties:

  • The Flexographic (Flexo) cutting operator for TAVO Packaging are responsible for operation of the press and cutting reproductions that meet or exceed customer expectations. This individual plays a critical role in the finished cutting quality and performance for the folding cartons we produce.
  • The primary areas of focus include continuous improvement in safe personnel behavior and safe equipment operations, product quality, productivity improvement, cost controls, waste management/reduction, equipment care, and housekeeping.
  • Work cooperatively with manufacturing team
  • Make ready printing presses as required consistent with machine standards
  • Trouble shoot cutting and print issues as required
  • Set-up and run platen die cutter and maintain print to cut registration
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping
  • Meet documentation and procedures as required for Quality Management Systems
  • Monitor production during runs to satisfy standards
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and support equipment needs cooperatively with department and maintenance personnel
  • Manage cutting quality and monitoring press performance and recording as required in ERP system
  • Work with team mates not only within direct crew assignments but among others to ensure smooth operations between shifts
  • Complete record keeping and production reporting
  • Uphold and apply company policy and procedures including coaching, counsel, and accountability as required

Skills and Experience:

  • Basic computer data entry skills.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs of equipment
  • Reasoning ability
  • Experience, training, and/or educational development in Flexographic Printing and/or Flexo process improvement
  • Basic skills in reading, writing, math, etc
  • Flexo printing ideally on folding cartons, solid paperboard, or other media
  • Basic Computer such as (word processing, data entry)

Competencies:

  • Ability to teach/train good practices to coworkers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Dust from paper converting process constantly present.
  • Employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and lift trucks.
  • Employee works in a common area shared with others with no division of space.
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals found in the plant such as Isopropyl acetate, ethyl alcohol, lacquer thinner, etc.
  • May experience ambient temperature extremes on hot, humid days.
  • Required to wear hair nets, beard nets (if applicable), safety glasses, and hearing protection in the manufacturing area.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
