The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is looking for a self-motivated, independent, task-driven individual to fill our Pretreatment Coordinator Position. Under guidance and direction of the Wastewater Treatment Plan Manager, and as part of the Wastewater Utilities team, the purpose of the position is to provide overall management of the City’s Industrial/Categorical Pretreatment Program ensuring environmental compliance with established federal, state, and local regulatory standards regarding City Wastewater Permit and Clean Water Act regulations. Employee in this classification exercises considerable independent judgment and works as a team with personnel executing other programs associated with the regulatory standards while performing the essential functions as outlined herein according to established guidelines. Employee evaluates and issues environmental permits to new, proposed and existing industrial/categorical businesses. Program consists of discharges from multiple jurisdictions. This position will work Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm. Must be able to work outside normal working hours to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Our employees are required to reside within 10 miles of the City of Sioux City limits which extends to adjoining states; Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.

Minimum Required Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field and two (2) years’ of work experience in pre-treatment, wastewater, or sewer environmental programs;
or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Special Requirements: * Must possess a valid driver’s license throughout length of employment * Must obtain an Iowa Grade 2 Wastewater System Certificate within 4 years of appointment. * Should strive to obtain progressively greater levels of State of Iowa Wastewater System Certification at every opportunity.
