Our team is looking for an experienced and high-performing private banker to join our team. You will be responsible for working with the Private Banking team on business development of new high value loan clients and depository clients, effective portfolio management of existing private banking clients.
The ideal candidate shall work with the Credit Underwriting team and Closing team to facilitate approval or denial and closing of lending opportunities. This will be done by developing an appropriate level of communication and collaboration with internal team members.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Abide by the Bank's Strategic Plan, vision, goals, code of conduct, code of ethics, privacy/confidentiality protocol and all other appropriate rules and regulations.
- Deepen and manage comprehensive financial relationships within the affluent segment.
- Deliver a differentiated client experience for the affluent market that supports DCB's values through a consultative, customized needs-based approach and proactive long-term relationship management.
- Participate in an end-to-end sales process, primarily through regular client engagement, to help identify their services usage, loan, and business opportunities, including needs assessment, in tandem with Private Bank Relationship Managers and assist with in-depth discovery meetings, solution presentations, and ongoing client communication.
- Begin to cultivate referral networks through active community involvement and professional group affiliations to source new affluent clients and proactively introduce the Relationship Managers.
- Perform general private lending activities in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
- Assist in generating new private loan and deposit relationships for the Bank in the type and manner outlined in the Bank's Strategic Plan, including developing relationships extending beyond the initial loan/deposit request.
- Provide superior client service to existing clients to promote client retention and portfolio growth.
- Help achieve performance goals through proactive growth and retention of high-quality client portfolio.
- Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
- Develop fluency utilizing Bank software programs.
- Review Loan Approval Reports (prepared by the Credit Underwriting team) including credit analyses and summaries of loan requests and submit to loan committee for approval.
- Build an understanding and ability to analyze loan opportunities, as well as an understanding of commercial real estate transactions.
- Following guidelines established by the Bank, analyze trends in both the income statement and balance sheet. Have a firm understanding of cash flow. Analyze various financial ratios (liquidity, activity, leverage, etc.) against industry benchmarks.
- Monitor or coordinate monitoring of existing loans through the ongoing review of updated financial statements, client interfacing, and review of internal reports.
- Review and understand all loan documentation requirements, including those from third parties, such as appraisers, participants, insurance, or title companies.
- Work with private banking clients to resolve past due accounts.
- Review Problem Loan Reports (prepared by the Credit Underwriting team) as directed by policy, if necessary.
- Resolve client questions/issues through direct involvement or through coordination with other bank employees.
- Assist the Relationship Manager as needed in order to achieve department and Bank wide goals.
- Required to register and to submit to the required SAFE Act background review and registration process. Failure to register successfully or to maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE Act will affect your eligibility for continued employment.
- Complete and pass required training courses by due date.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year institution required.
- Demonstrated professional competency with 2-10 years financial services experience as part of a team in the affluent segment, plus strong understanding of banking fundamentals, and experience with credit and financial analysis.
- Private Banking Associate: Minimum 5 years of experience in financial services industry, corporate finance, banking, loan review, and/or compliance procedures and policies.
- Private Banking Officer: Minimum 2 years financial services experience in a client facing role serving HNW/UHNW individuals, families, and family offices. AVP or VP title DOE.
WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT:
HOURS: Monday - Friday; 8am - 5pm; Some variation in work hours
TRAVEL: Occasionally

Generally comfortable professional environment, largely sedentary role, with some moving about the building. Some interruption. Verbal and written communication skills along with telephone and computer usage are critical to the job. Must be able to read, comprehend, and communicate complex information (i.e., speaking to clients and within small groups, read credit reports and required documents, etc.). This role occasionally operates an automobile traveling to client locations.
