Poly Labs is hiring a PROCESS ENGINEER in Lewiston, Maine to join our rapidly growing engineering team!
Poly Labs is a 100% U.S. based leader in producing advanced molded polyurethane components found in several cutting edge industries. Our highly-engineered, molded, self-skinning, and small pour polyurethane components support end users in defense, medical, footwear, and impact protection applications.
The Process Engineer will be responsible for monitoring & improving production and engineering at Poly Labs.
In this position, you will make use of appropriate engineering tools, such as 3D printing, on-site laboratory testing, 3D modeling software, production testing, hypothesis testing, and defect rate studies to measure, monitor, improve and control the effects of the manufacturing process on the product.
As the Process Engineer, you will interact closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Mold Shop, and R&D as a key link to introduce new processes into manufacturing.
This position reports directly to the Senior Engineering Manager.
Typical hours for this position are 6:00am to 4:30pm, Monday - Thursday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess process capabilities, design & prioritize process improvement opportunities, and measure effectivity during implementation.
- Ability to support a first and second shift operation on an as needed bases.
- Design, document & conduct failure analysis plus controlled DoE’s to ensure targeted corrective actions are accomplished.
- Drive a Safety focused culture by monitoring compliance to safety system processes.
- Drive a Quality focused culture by monitoring compliance to Quality System processes, such as non-conforming material, product holds, Line Clearance, etc.
- Identify, justify, & coordinate procurement of equipment/materials required to support manufacturing environment.
- Provide technical support for production scale-up of new products or solving related production issues; advise R&D during product/process design in an effort to reduce costs.
- Review process yields, track product defects, measure cost of quality; lead Six Sigma effort to improve cost, quality, yield, & cycle time.
- Review product designs and manufacturing processes for the purpose of improving quality, reducing cycle time and controlling costs.
- Utilize project mgmt. skills to drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize yield, quality, cycle time and/or ergonomics.
- Other duties as assigned and required.
TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple product design, scope, and accurate shipping schedule
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple product assembly operations.
- Detailed knowledge in Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma methodologies suggested but not required.
- Experience with Development Protocols-IQ/OQ/PQ/PPQ.

- Bachelor's Degree
