Our programs are bridging the gap between education and the workforce by opening the doors for high school students to receive essential skills training, access career-readiness opportunities, digital literacy training, individualized mentoring, and ongoing post-high school planning support.
Position Summary
Urban Alliance is designed to empower youth through workforce readiness development and training. The Program Coordinator for the 11th grade initiative will be responsible for delivering high quality workshops and providing support to approximately 30 students attending Baltimore City Public Schools.
The ideal candidate is an innovative and organized professional with demonstrated experience working with youth and has strong facilitation skills. Top candidates will have an ability to build and maintain relationships with students, families, schools, community leaders, and demonstrate an understanding of the challenges facing young people in Baltimore.
High school juniors attend weekly after-school workshops to develop soft skills and demonstrate their readiness for the workforce. After being selected to join the program, students will then spend 3 hours per week participating in workshops focused on building professional skills. Participants will have the opportunity to apply the professional skills acquired in the school year program during the summer months with a professional internship. Students who successfully complete the program will have gained intensive workforce readiness training, compensated for their time, completed up to 100 professional development hours, gained career exposure, completed a professional portfolio that includes – a resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile and receive early admission to the Urban Alliance High School Internship Program.
Program Coordinator Responsibilities
- Facilitation
- Deliver high-quality workshops focused on professional development and employment skills for approximately 30 young people
- Deliver high-quality workshops focused on career readiness skills
- Create a strong learning community and classroom for our students
- Student support
- Create and maintain professional relationships with young people
- Establish safe and professional learning environments for students that encourages active participation, a high degree of student engagement, and content retention
- Oversee planning and execution of program events with assistance from team
- Schedule one on one meetings with students to help support their post high school planning process and check in on their professional portfolio.
- Relationship management
- Build and maintain relationships with students, counselors, principals, teachers at partner schools
- Establish relationships with key community stakeholders to support program participants in their personal and professional journey
Data management- Collect routine program data, attendance, and assignment completion in Canvas and Salesforce platforms
- Work with internal Evaluation Team to implement program evaluations
- Provide data/reports to partners as needed

- Experience working with community organizations and schools in disinvested areas

- Flexibility and a capacity to quickly adapt to change
- Ability to travel locally
- Bachelor’s degree (recommended)
- Can work successfully in team settings
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and utilization of data management tools

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
At Urban Alliance one of our core values is taking care of each other, and this includes offering competitive benefits, paid time off, and options for remote work. The salary for this position is between $55,000 and $60,000 depending on experience. In addition to having paid time off between December 25th and January 1st, we provide 18 days of paid time off (PTO) plus 10 paid federal holidays, 5 sick days, as well as birthday and diversity paid holidays. After 3 years of employment, additional PTO days are provided. Depending on the calendar, additional paid closure days and early closure days are established each year. Our benefits include a comprehensive health plan with 90% individual healthcare coverage for employees; 403(B) retirement plans with a 3% match; pre-tax commuter, health, and childcare benefits; and whole life insurance.
Urban Alliance Vaccination Policy
As established by the Urban Alliance Board of Directors, all employees are required to receive a vaccination against COVID-19, unless a medical or religious reasonable accommodation is approved.
