This position may perform work both in-person and remotely, as determined by supervisor and the needs of the college.
Flexible work arrangements
are available in the College of Pharmacy. This position may occasionally be required to work additional hours or weekends as needed to complete time-sensitive projects or facilitate events and programs.
Purpose
The Program Director reports to Janet Walkow in the Drug Dynamics Institute with primary focus on College of Pharmacy’s Innovation for Health (i4Health) effort to combine the college’s health science expertise with McCombs School of Business entrepreneurship expertise, bringing a business-health science lens to improving health.
Responsibilities
- Recruit students from a broad training and diverse demographic from interdisciplinary backgrounds
- Conduct workshop-style sessions to cover science-business fundamentals, utilize UT-based company case studies to prepare students to work on UT technologies; develop micro credentials to recognize science-business competencies
- Align interdisciplinary, student-led projects with faculty sponsor and external advisors for continued project development beyond a given student’s graduation from the program
- Create and manage ad Advisory Committee comprised of external VC, business leaders, entrepreneurs to provide guidance and assessment
- Host investment competitions with participation by students, faculty and advising committee members
- Curriculum development
- Participation in small group seminars
- Assist with budgeting and fundraising
- Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree or higher in a health science related field; experience working with health technologies including drug development, medical devices, or digital health innovation, or related field, and at least 5 years of experience working in health technology related startups and industry
- Experience in successfully fundraising and grant writing
- Leadership experience managing innovation programs, people, and funders
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad variety of constituents, including funders, innovators, and corporate executives
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range
- $75,000+ depending on qualifications

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
