The Program Manager II position will lead the Global Business Expansion ( GBE ) Division’s Workforce Development team (supervisory duties) and report to the Division Manager. The Workforce Development team supports the City’s workforce development strategic plan, including equitable workforce training; tracks workforce development efforts in city departments; and is a resource across Economic Development Department divisions. This role also advises GBE’s Business & District Development team supporting their work and ensuring workforce interests are supported and enhanced. This position focuses on the division’s global mission through its collaboration with domestic and international businesses seeking to hire in Austin, train local talent, and create jobs.

Driving Requirement:
This position requires a valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

Pay Range
$32.89 – $41.93 per hour

Hours
Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (flexibility may be an option)
Periodic evening and weekend meetings required.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements full-scale programs that may have multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Determines program goals, objectives, and resource requirements.
  • Establishes program standards, methods, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with multiple stakeholders involved in or affected by programs.
  • Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness, and implements improvement strategies.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the program budget and associated projects and provides financial information.
  • Assists in the development, management, and submittal of proposed budget forecast planning.
  • Manages, coordinates, implements, and monitors projects associated with assigned programs.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers.
  • Investigates and responds to inquiries from the public and other departments.
  • Attends meetings and conducts presentations Board and Commissions, City Council Committees, City Council, and other related agencies.

Responsibilities- Supervision and/or Leadership Exercised:
  • May be responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for discharge.
