Suffolk University is delighted to announce a career opportunity as the Program Manager for the National Center for Public Performance (NCPP), Department of Public Service and Health Administration in the Sawyer Business School. This position has responsibility for coordinating and operationalizing a series of certificate programs, conference events, and a publications program that are intended to position the NCPP and the department as a leader in the public affairs and nonprofit dialogues, with the goals of enhancing visibility, self-sustaining sources of income, program rankings and student recruitment in support of University branding.


Primary
Responsibilities:

Develop and operationalize digital visibility strategies for the NCPP certificates - Strategic Performance Management (SPM), Public Communication, and Analytics Leadership by operationalizing Facebook, Twitter and similar social media accounts for each certificate. Coordinate with the Office of Marketing and Communication and other pertinent offices on Center visibility for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts.

Managing all operational activities for events and ensure successful outcome. These events include, but are not limited to the ASPA Performance Symposium and Annual Performance Measurement and Reporting Conference. The operational activities include, but are not limited to, assisting in identifying and confirming keynote speakers, panel chairs and panelists. Creating program booklets or handouts and conference agendas. Will also handle the event publicity, marketing and visibility strategies prior to conferences. Compile notes and presentations for use by participants, for publication and for visibility subsequent to conferences. Develop plans for continuation of conferences annually. Assist in drafting funding proposals to underwrite conferences.

Assist with development of department related website content to aid in visibility, rankings and student recruitment. Coordinate efforts with the Office of Marketing and Communication to redesign department website so as to emphasize issues that are important to prospective students, such as the calling to public service, career paths in government and nonprofit organizations, the missions of government and nonprofit organizations, degree programs and curricula offerings, job and network resources, faculty, research and publications, etc. Coordinate gathering of content. Post content to websites. Track website usage metrics. Regularly update and revise content.

Assists with communication strategies focused on improvement of rankings. In conjunction with faculty, identify ranking opportunities in the fields of public affairs, public administration, public and nonprofit management, etc. Maintain Constant Contact lists of faculty in related areas. Identify deadlines and push content to faculty lists on a timely basis. Make recommendations to Department faculty as to curricular and programmatic terminology, initiatives and outcomes that would likely result in improved rankings. Track rankings metrics and develop reports, highlighting best practices among schools and programs that have succeeded in improving rankings.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required

A minimum of one to three years of work experience and strong proficiency in updating content on websites.

Marketing experience especially with social media and SEO.

Work experience and proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs as well as graphic design, publishing and communications software.

Comprehensive understanding of necessary public management capabilities.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Customer service—experience working with MPA and similar students

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

Strong organizational skills and ability to devise a system for organizing and archiving files, records and publications,

Personal attributes—excellent interpersonal skills, reliable work ethic, ability to coordinate and problem solve with staff

Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends is required. Availability to participate in conferences and meeting out of the office is required.
