Job description
We are currently hiring for a Purchasing Assistant to join our procurement team in Deerfield. In this role the purchasing assistant provides technical, quality management and administrative support to Corporate Purchasing Manager assisting with documentation, spreadsheets and other related materials.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assists with purchases of Raw Materials, Packaging, Subcontracted products and Services
- Assists with Inbound (Domestic & Imports) Logistics reports for costing purposes
- Oversee & coordinate carrier pick up for domestic & oversees for plants and corporate
- Assists with general Inventory Control based on forecasts
- Responsible for maintaining the Corporate Purchasing, filing system (maintenance and updating) to ensure compliance with ISO requirements.
- Responsible for purchasing process QM and administer and maintain required documents for QM.
- Responsible for creating analysis tools for corporate and plant purchasing that will assist in reduction of costs.
- Support Accounts Payable on resolution of vendor payment issues.
- Obtain data and perform cost analysis for purchasing purposes and prepare reports
- Interface with all departments with information as required
- Actively assist in continuous improvement activities and offer positive suggestions for improvements and innovations.
- Act as liaison with Quality Management regarding Non-Conformity Reports (NCR), Corrective/Preventive Actions Requests (CAR/PAR), and Recommendations (REC) issued for purchasing/vendors related non-conformities.
- Issue Supplier Action Requests (SAR) for corporate level non-conformities and monitor compliance of
- vendors with responses; maintain archives of all SARs (at corporate and plant level).
- Consolidate and keep track of all credits generated from non-conformities related to vendors
- Compile results for the annual Supplier Evaluation program and prepare the required reports
- Monitor the annual Supplier Audit program; maintain records and archives
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training.
- The position requires the ability to work with a personal computer in a Windows environment. Requires proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.
