Purchasing Manager

FLSA classification: Exempt, management position with 3-5 direct reports

Reports to: Executive Vice President

Salary range: salary commensurate based on experience

What you will do:

As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for directing the company’s sourcing objectives with the procurement of cost-effective high-quality materials, equipment, supplies and services in a timely manner. Additional duties will include leading a team to acquire the best products for the best prices.

  • Represent company with the highest integrity in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
  • Selects vendors, assesses vendor capabilities, develops alternate sources, and evaluates vendor performance, negotiates price and delivery.
  • Develops and implements systematic purchasing department plan for competitive sourcing and annual review on all purchased items, including reporting cost reduction, cost avoidance and cost increases quarterly to Executive Vice President.
  • Ensure that purchasing documents are properly completed and the terms and conditions are appropriate.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and maintaining them over time.
  • Prepare financial documents, reports or budgets.
  • Analyze data to assess operational or project effectiveness.
  • Manage a team of purchasing agents located at three facilities in Pennsylvania and Indiana.

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor of Science or Business Degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a purchasing related field strongly preferred. Experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of industry suppliers, products, and manufacturing capabilities are preferred.
  • Capability to re-adjust and re-prioritize goals to meet the ever-changing demands of the projects at hand.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal, and negotiating/contacting skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, SAP, IBM Lotus Notes
  • Willingness to travel: 10-15%
  • This position is not eligible for remote work and requires the employee to be always on-site.
