What you’ll do

We are looking to add a Qualitative Research Fellow/Associate to our team who will play a key role in the advancement of CVN’s research and innovation initiatives. The primary focus of this role will be to complete a USAAF funded project examining suicide risk stratification processes within the Cohen Veterans Network. Opportunities to complete other research projects using CVN clinical data are also possible based on interest and availability.

Specifically, you will:

  • Develop vignettes representing varying levels of risk for suicide as well as scoring criteria for each vignette
  • Develop semi-structured interview questions to determine how clinicians make risk stratification decisions.
  • Administer and score the vignettes and conduct interviews with selected clinicians (~25 interviews)
  • Develop a methodology and research plan to conduct complex analyses needed for the project
  • Analyze the quantitative and qualitative data collected for this project
  • Draft detailed reports and presentations based on your analysis, including graphics, charts, tables and use other descriptive and explanatory tools
  • Assist in drafting, editing and proofing documents and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders. Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer reviewed journals
  • Engage in research support tasks as needed. For example, grant writing, literature review, and manuscript preparation.

What’s required

  • Masters degree in social/behavioral science field with experience in conducting and managing research studies, Doctorate preferred
  • Significant experience in conducting qualitative research including focus groups and structured interviews and coding/analyzing data
  • Experience working in a clinical setting a plus
  • Highly skilled at interpreting and graphically presenting data in user friendly formats for expert to general audiences
  • Highly proficient with data analytic programs and software including, Excel, R, Python, Power BI
  • Knowledge of data management and analytic strategies. Ability to work with data sets, to clean and merge, assess disaggregate
  • History of publication in scholarly/peer reviewed journals.
  • Experience in Internet security practices and HIPAA a plus
  • Experience working in mental health or community health systems a plus
  • Veteran, Military Spouse, or experience in the veteran community a plus
  • Some travel is required
