Quality Improvement Specialist

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center specialized care for clients diagnosed with mental illness. This position reports to the Quality Management department and communicates with leadership and multi-disciplinary teams on patient and staff safety issues. The Quality Improvement Specialist works collaboratively to develop, implement, and monitor quality issues. This position addresses clinical, operational, and system related problems through data, observation and performance improvement projects.


Responsibilities:
  • Works with Administration, treatment providers and support staff to ensure compliance with TJC standards, CMS guidelines, rules and regulations.
  • Facilitates root cause analysis (RCAs), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and tracers for clinical and operational processes.
  • Provides facilitation and support to teams and departments related to patient safety events.
  • Leadership role in coordination of data reporting activities to regulatory bodies.
  • Performs data abstraction, validation and logic checks to ensure accuracy of the data.
  • Provides timely, accurate data analysis and interpretations.
  • Assists clinical and support areas to develop performance improvement measures and reporting mechanisms for corrective action plans.
  • Participates in Patient Safety assessments, activities, and committees.
  • Develops and creates reports to share with staff to enhance organizational knowledge and understanding of quality/process improvement data.
  • Provides data, performance improvement and safety information in meetings and committees.
  • Facilitates trainings related to data, performance improvement or safety issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Eligibility:
REQUIRED-
1. Bachelor’s degree in safety, public health, environmental health, occupational safety, healthcare field or other related field
2. Two (2) years’ experience related to workplace safety, environmental science, regulatory compliance, healthcare life safety, and healthcare environment of care, Healthcare Quality or Performance Improvement.
3. Lean, Six Sigma or Change Leader training.
4. Two (2) years of data analysis in a healthcare setting.
5. For internal candidates, no disciplinary action during the previous 12 months.
PREFERRED-
1. Master’s degree in safety, public health, environmental health, occupational safety, healthcare field or other related field
2. Four (4) years’ experience with healthcare workplace safety, environmental science, TJC or CMS regulatory compliance, healthcare life safety, fire drills in healthcare, environmental disease response in healthcare or healthcare environment of care.
3. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
